Considered one of the more technically complex homesites within Marcella, Deer Valley V presented both an extraordinary challenge and an equally remarkable opportunity. Tasked by the developer with creating a vision worthy of the site, our team designed a residence that appears to float above the terrain, taking full advantage of its commanding mountain setting. Overlooking the new Deer Valley village, Jordanelle Reservoir, and the surrounding ski community, the home was shaped around its expansive views. Walls of glass extend throughout the residence, dissolving the boundary between architecture and landscape and allowing the surrounding mountains to become an ever-present part of the living experience. Behind the seemingly effortless design lies legacy-level structural architecture engineered to bring an ambitious vision to life. Massive acid-finished concrete columns work in concert with structural steel to support the residence while preserving its openness, dramatic spans, and connection to the landscape. Deer Valley V is a testament to what can emerge from a challenging site, an architectural landmark designed to push boundaries and establish a new standard within Marcella for decades to come.
